Hazelton Manor Wedding: Jen & Dan

I know it was a good wedding when I have a difficult time in choosing which photos to show for the preview, as is the case for Jen and Dan’s Hazelton Manor Wedding. As usual, things started off where the bride got ready which was at Jen’s parents’ place in Mississauga; unusually, I wasn’t there for any of the makeup/hair preparations but instead they had one of their friends photograph the process. The ceremony took place at Jen and Dan’s regular church, the Merciful Redeemer Parish.

For bridal photos, we had reserved the Adamson Estate which is a gorgeous location with a variety of backgrounds for us to use. <start rant> Although I don’t know the specifics of the photo permit that was obtained by Jen and Dan, I assumed we would have exclusive use of the area for the duration of the permit so that there would not be any other bridal parties using it at the same time.. so I was a bit peeved when the party that was already there didn’t leave on time and that another one arrived during our session. Come on photographers – part of your job is to advise your clients about the photo locations and their regulations and to keep things moving along on schedule! Without the proper photo permits, you run the risk of having the photo session ruined by security or by-law officers if any are present.  <end rant>

With that off my chest, I have to say we created some beautiful photos! During our communications, I got a sense that portraits were very important to the bridal couple so that was one of the areas where I wanted to push myself creatively. And since Dan is a keen photography enthusiast himself, I hope that my efforts and techniques will be appreciated.

From what I could see, everyone had fun during the reception at the Hazelton Manor in Vaughan. Games, speeches, special performances.. all lovely stuff! Before I left for the night, I had a quick two minute portrait session with the couple as I knew Jen would have changed into the traditional Chinese red dress. It’s always wonderful to be a part of such a special day and often times with the best view too. Jen and Dan, you guys are one of the sweetest couples I have had the pleasure to work with. Thank you for having me as your photographer!
