Scarborough Convention Centre Wedding: Amanda & Rohan

Since makeup and hair is the first thing that occurs in the morning for the bride, it’s always nice when it’s completed on time and in this case – ahead of schedule thanks to Adaa Artistry. This allowed for some impromptu and candid bridal portraits down in the well lit dining room. Afterwards, it was a short drive over to St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church for the ceremony where I’m sure you’ll agree that Amanda looked stunning walking down the aisle. Throughout the day I was feeling a little outnumbered by the videography team who had 3(!) videographers while I was working all by my lonesome. When one of the videographers saw me loaded down with gear, he said I looked like I was going to war – I guess in a way I was a one man army.

Although we had planned to use some specific locations for wedding party photos, we had to modify our plans thanks to road construction, extreme heat, and ominous storm clouds. Our first location was Main Street Markham; I usually like to scout locations beforehand to know what to expect on the day of but in this case I didn’t.. as it turns out, half the street was torn up for repaving with dust everywhere. Needless to say we only managed a few photos there before heading over to location two – Rouge Beach. I had scouted this location beforehand and knew where I wanted to shoot so we wasted no time creating the photos. This was important because a massive storm was rolling in (see the clouds below) so we decided to cut our third location and head straight to the Scarborough Convention Centre where we were able to cool off and create some indoor photos prior to the reception.

Performances by Amanda and her friends were some of the highlights of the evening. For me, it was the chance to create and capture memories for Amanda and Rohan. I have had the pleasure of knowning Rohan for close to 15 years so seeing one of my best friends marry the love of his life and to be their photographer was an honour. Congratulations Amanda and Rohan!
